Each winter Spare Room hosts a marathon reading, in which a booklength poem
or series of texts is animated by a range of voices. For this year's marathon,
we will read selections from many of the publications of the Something Else Press,
the pioneering publishing venture of Fluxus writer, composer, performer, and theorist
Dick Higgins, which from 1964 to 1974 issued nearly sixty books (and countless
pamphlets, newsletters, posters, scores, and other ephemeral objects)
by a remarkable roster of artists (see links below).
The selections to be read include poems for single and multiple readers,
short plays, performance scores, and prose of various stripes.
Listeners are welcome to come and go as they like, or to stay for the entire duration.
As in recent years, the marathon will be held in the cozy kitchen at Yale Union,
and we are grateful for their generous hospitality.
