Cornish fairings

These are a cookie (or "biscuit") that Madchen over in I Love Cooking gave me the recipe for. No eggs, which was odd, and they ended up looking like peanut butter cookies, but were in fact more gingery than that. I used corn syrup for golden syrup.

But the exciting thing is that I have a camera again, and so there is much more appeal to good ol' "Artisan":

Hurrah for visuals!

Barley beer bread

Beer bread, with barley flour, and I finally found barley malt syrup. This bread came out nice and rich.

Things I haven't mentioned

I don't seem to have mentioned the baked mac and cheese I made a few weeks ago! It got a little burnt as I was trying to keep it warm (I am not yet master of the broiler) but it was all right.

I don't seem to have mentioned the various ice cream toppings I've been making! Blend berries with a bit of powdered sugar: It is easy and yummy.

Also I made some more snickerdoodles today, and they were good.

Nothing, really.

The cooking and baking and fun have gone by the wayside, as all my attentions are aimed at The Resurrectory, a performance which I am taking part in. I can't even begin to describe it here, but for the handful of you who read this, if you have any chance to come to Portland and see it, and if you have any interest at all in experimental theatre (or hermetic and sappy songs about people murdered 180 years ago), then try to come down and see it.

To wind down I've been working on my chess game, and if you want to play me I'm "Casuistry" on Red Hot Pawn or the Free Internet Chess Server. I'm not that good yet.

Someday I'll get back to cooking...
